School Groups

Hi Everyone!

For this year's performances we're hoping to have two matinee performances during the week - specifically targeted at school groups.

So far we've had a couple of people send contact information for schools they went to who could be interested. But we do need more.

If anyone knows of a school that may be interested in attending our performances, would you please forward their contact information to: pontefaj@mcmaster.ca.

Facebook group!!

Well, it's finally here. Sorry this took so long ...

The group is closed at the moment, subject to change. I've added everyone I had on my facebook to it, which unfortunately is not very many people in the company currently. If you would like to become a member, just search for "McMaster Thespian Company" and it should show up.

It's a bit bare bones at the moment, but more pictures will be added soon and we'll be creating individual events for the show.

Much Ado New Info and Reminders

Hello wonderful cast!!

Just a quick e-mail with two purposes:

1) Thanks so much to everyone today for their fantastic work, you guys were a joy to watch and work with; Erika, AJ and I were so pleased with everything!

2)Since we are off the next 2 Saturday's we would like to look at maybe doing some work during the weeks. Please send me your exam/work/holiday and family time schedules.

Also, we asked today that when everyone comes back from break that they have their lines memorized, we are getting to the point where having scripts in hand are just holding you guys back.

Again, great job today and thus far everyone!!

Much Ado Rehearsal for Sat Nov 29th

Hello everyone!!

This Saturday's rehearsal will begin promptly at 11am with warm-ups. Those who are called for rehearsal are expected to be there, if you are not needed for rehearsal and would like to come to the warm-ups you are more than welcome.

For this Saturday we will be meeting in the same place as always and will be needing the following actors: Duncan, Cliff, Rick, Cary, Michael S., Michael A., Warren, Michael P., Alex, Andrew H., Erin...we basically need all the boys and Erin, so if I missed your name and you are in fact male you are very much needed on Saturday.

We have been having a few problems recently with lateness and attendance and it can not and will not be tolerated. Please be in the room ready to begin warm-ups at 11am, if you want to arrive on campus and grab food or talk with friends/castmates or need extra time to find parking that's fine but please give yourselves extra time to do that. When you come to rehearsal late you are essentially telling everyone that your time is more important than theirs and that the work we need to do isn't a priority for you.

My phone isn't working at the moment if you have any problems, or questions please let me know on Friday at the very latest.

An Ideal Husband: Saturday Nov 29

Hi guys

Same deal as usual- warmups start at 11am, please be prompt so the rest of the group isn't kept waiting. We will be running through parts of the show, please be prepared and off book. If you have any questions about the schedule, fire me off an email and I'll answer as best I can :)

Also, someone left a necklace in the room 2 weeks ago, a silver necklace with small purple-blue squares hanging from it. I have it with me and no one claimed it last week, but if it is yours please let me know.

Shot run was awesome last night, thank you to Matt for hosting, Matt/Martin/Andrea for making all those tasty shots, and Alex for acting as DD for half the cast :) and of course, everyone for showing up and putting in a valiant effort on your lines. It was a fun night and awesome for everyone to get together outside of rehearsal! Let's plan to do it again!

Prod meeting tomorrow postponed ...

Hey guys,

We were supposed to be meeting tomorrow at 6 to hand out the packages, but they're still not ready yet unfortunately.

We will let you know when they are and organize a time that you can come pick them up.

I understand that exams begin next week, so we will not be holding anymore formal production squad meetings until January. That being said, if you were working on clothing design or promotion ideas, please don't hesitate to email either myself or Iain who would be happy to meet with you.

Both Iain and myself will also be at rehearsal this weekend if you do need to talk with us.

Production Meeting Wednesday

Hey everyone!

At this week's production meeting we will be unveiling proofs of the school package and promotional packages for you. Once we're satisfied with everything that's in them, we will get promo packages printed for you to take out into Westdale and Hamilton. This week on the agenda as well is company clothing. Please bring with you any ideas that you've been working on.

Also, apparently some people did not get the notice that last week's meeting was cancelled. Sorry to those people who did attend, it is not going to become a regular practice to cancel the meetings. In the future, if there is going to be such late notice, we will send out an accompanying email.

MONEY!

Quick note, if you haven't paid for your clubs fees yet ($15 per actor and $10 per production squad member), please bring money tomorrow, along with monies for Quarters! P.S. We're still meeting in BSB first.
Much Ado About Nothing - Nov 8 + Rehearsal attendance and punctuality

Hey guys, this is just a reminder that rehearsal for MAAN will be starting at 11:00 am as per usual, and going until 5 or 6pm. Warm-ups will be done in conjunction with Ideal Husband and the prod squad.

Please remember that by this point in the game, you SHOULD NOT be late for rehearsal (this goes for both casts). If you generally do run late, then try to aim to get there 15 min earlier. We don't need to be waiting around for people to be showing up. Similarly, if you can't make it for tomorrow, I'm going to assume that you've already discussed this with your SM or director and have a really good reason for not being there.

PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's here folks, the first MTC company party of the season!!!!

This is what you need to know:

Where: 36 Haddon St. North (Rick, Carey and Brandon -sorry if I'm missing anyone - have graciously agreed to let us have the party there)
When: Saturday, November 8th at 9:30pm ... until we get kicked out
What to bring: Drinks if you want them, we will supply munchies. Also, bring MARKERS please. Any colour, doesn't matter ... maybe tape your name onto them as well so they don't get mixed up. We're going to be trying to do something fun that we haven't quite figured out yet, which we'll let you know about by Friday. If that doesn't happen, we will be reverting to our Onesie party (again, interpret it however you wish).

We hope to see you all there - and you'd better be there - or have a really good reason for not being there, or we'll set Martin and Matt on you, a.k.a Planck's constant.

Hi cast!

A reminder that this Saturday's rehearsal will run from 1-5pm, with warmups beginning at 11am. Warmups are mandatory for all cast and crew :)

Also, for anyone who still owes part/all of their membership fees, I will be collecting those immediately at rehearsal! Don't forget about the MTC onesie party on Nov 8 at Rick Mills' house, keep checking the blog for details!

Rings left in BSB 121

Hi everyone

There were 2 large silver rings left in BSB 121 that were found after rehearsal on Saturday. They look like men's rings, one plain silver band with a small line running through it and one larger silver one with a sun and details on it. It doesn't appear that they belonged to anyone in An Ideal Husband, but if they sound like they're yours, please email me at whoa_nelly29@hotmail.com and I'll bring them for you on Saturday!

McMaster Thespian Company- meeting minutes October 15, 2008

Meeting commenced 6:05pm

1. Introductions- 17 people in attendance

2. Budget:

q Projected budget per show was discussed

q MTC is still waiting on funding from the MSU

q Executive will provide a more detailed budget at a future date- each show is expected to stay within their given budget

q Company membership fees are to be collected by directors on Saturday, October 18/08- $15 for cast members, $10 for production members

3. Production:

q An Ideal Husband: set will be basic, most pieces can be acquired; directors plan for few props, but show will be costume-heavy- require a number of red and/or white suits

q Much Ado About Nothing: classical looking costumes with a contemporary feel to them (period-neutral), some musical elements (singing) in show, more complex set design- diagram was shown.

q Timeline for set pieces to be established between directors and set designer

q Performance schedule is needed as soon as possible for booking Robinson Memorial Theatre

q Regarding performances, there was discussion on adding in shows on Friday afternoons of the runs- this was generally agreed upon, therefore each show is projected to have 2 additional performances

q Request made of directors to provide a small paragraph outlining each show’s vision- to be included in packages that will be distributed to schools. Please submit by October 17/08

4. Other Business

q Discussion on storage space for lumber and costumes- several people offered space and/or vehicle use, selected members to look into storage space on campus for lumber

q Company clothing- executive is looking at both show-specific and general company clothing for company members. Suggestions were made to consider selling these items as well as a fundraising opportunity. Thoughts included hats, scarves and pants for general company purchase, and sweatshirts/Tshirts with logos for each individual show. Directors were asked to consider logo designs for both clothing and promotional purposes and submit to executive.

q A Facebook group will be created by the executive- directors were asked to advise their casts to please refrain from creating groups for the shows.

q Discussion on elements to include in packages to be sent to schools: suggestions included director’s notes/paragraphs, production schedules including dates and times of performances, ticket prices, and ideas on how to integrate each show/related literature into school curriculums.

q Social reps are to be elected from each cast on Saturday, October 18- one or two reps from each cast are needed

q Cast biographies: An Ideal Husband is to have cast biographies submitted by December 1, 2008 with photography date TBD, Much Ado About Nothing is to have cast biographies submitted by February 23 (??), 2009 with photography date TBD.

q Rehearsal warm ups are scheduled for 11am in BSB 104 or 105- all company members are asked to attend

q October 25, 2008- company dinner/party is to be arranged, location to be announced

q November 8, 2008- company party (possible themes include “One-sie” or Toga themes), location to be announced

q Next company meeting set for Wednesday October 29, 2008
